George Bush Intercontinental Airport: A Practical Guide

发布于阅读约3分钟

Michael Avery撰写

George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is Houston’s five-terminal airport, with free trains connecting terminals and designated locations for pickups and drop-offs. It is about a 21-minute drive from this two-star hotel in Humble, making it a practical arrival point for the area.

  • Location: 2800 North Terminal Road, Houston, Texas 77032
  • Five terminals: A, B, C, D and E
  • Free Skyway trains run every two minutes; the Subway runs every three minutes
  • Terminal curbside parking is not permitted
Understanding the airport layout

Understanding the airport layout

IAH has five terminals—A, B, C, D and E—linked by an above-ground train inside security and an underground train outside security. The airport opened in 1969 and is located at 2800 North Terminal Road.

The two train systems serve different sides of security, so choose the one that matches where you are and where you need to go. The Skyway connects all five terminals inside security; the Subway connects them outside security and also serves the Airport Marriott.

How do you get between IAH terminals?

How do you get between IAH terminals?

The free Skyway and Subway connect all five terminals, with stations in Terminals A, C and D/E.

Skyway: inside security

The above-ground Skyway operates every day and departs every two minutes. The airport gives a travel time of 4 minutes, 15 seconds from Terminal A to Terminal D/E. Use it to move between terminals without leaving the secure area.

Subway: outside security

The underground Subway departs every three minutes, and each trip between stations takes approximately 3 minutes. It operates daily from 3:15 a.m. to 12:15 a.m., with service closed from 12:15 a.m. to 3:15 a.m. The Subway serves Terminals A, C and D/E, as well as the Airport Marriott.

Ground transportation and pickup

Ground transportation and pickup

IAH assigns pickup locations by terminal, so confirm the terminal and door with the person collecting you. For international arrivals at Terminal D, passengers proceed through Customs and Immigration to the Terminal E International Arrivals Hall.

The airport’s pickup locations are Terminal A north side, Door A-113; Terminal B north side, Door B-101; Terminal C north side, Door C-102; Terminal D arrivals at the Terminal E International Arrivals Hall; and Terminal E south side, Door 103B.

For American and Spirit passengers, the airport also gives private-car directions to Terminal A north side, Door A-113, and Terminal B south side, Door A-115.

If you’re arranging a ride into town, how to get from IAH to Humble is a useful part of planning your onward trip.

Parking and passenger drop-off

Parking and passenger drop-off

Drivers cannot park at terminal curbs, and the airport directs those waiting for arriving passengers to the Control Tower Cell Phone Lot at 4500 Will Clayton Parkway, Humble, Texas 77396.

For passenger drop-off, use the level assigned to the terminal: Departures Level 2 at Terminals A and C, Level 1 at Terminal D, and Departures Level 2 at Terminal E. The airport says ecopark2 on Will Clayton Parkway operates as reservation-only parking.

What to verify before travel

Check your airline’s terminal and pickup instructions before setting out, since IAH’s directions can vary by terminal and passenger type. For wheelchair or electric-cart service, contact your airline in advance or ask at its ticket counter; the airport says these services are provided through the airline.

Airport information booths are open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Locations include baggage claim in Terminals A and C, the Terminal D–E connector and the Terminal E International Arrivals Level. Train hours, parking arrangements and airport procedures can change, so check the official site before you go.
